The visa sham is at surge and amid this, authorities have taken the decision to restrict Indian Students. However, Indian Students from specific states have been restricted, these states include Punjab, Haryana and others.
An investigation by The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald newspapers has obtained emails from within Victoria University, Edith Cowan University, the University of Wollongong, Torrens University, and agents working for Southern Cross University that show the crackdown on applications from Indian students of certain states.
This year, Australia will be welcoming the largest number of Indian students ever, more than 2019’s marks of 75,000. However, visa fraud is raising a lot of concerns. The governments of India and Australia also signed a wide-ranging agreement. The agreement was signed by the Prime Ministers of both countries- Anthony Albanese and Narendra Modi which will make traveling to either country for university study easier.
The volume of students arriving has come back a lot stronger than anyone was expecting. We knew there would be a lot of pent-up demand, but there has also been a surge in non-genuine students,” said Jon Chew from global education firm Navitas
As per a report by the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, the irregularity in visa have raised concern regarding its impact on Australia’s international education market.
The reports have further mentioned that since the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, visa fraud has surged. Migrants are submitting the incomplete application and fraud information. In some cases, fraud documents are also found
