Canada is looking for Indians to work in its foreign service offices

The Canadian government is looking for people to work in its foreign service offices, and it has announced salaries ranging from $72,292 to $91,472 ($72,292 to $91,472).

Migration Foreign Service Officers will carry out a variety of duties within IRCC’s migration programs, according to the job posting. These duties include processing foreign applicants, conducting “risk assessments,” engaging foreigners and participating in “migration diplomacy activities.”

Foreign service officers should be informed that this is a challenging profession that would need them to spend “about two-thirds of their career overseas,” according to an article posted on Narcity Canada. They can also be required to work overtime and switch jobs every two to four years.

IRCC’s job listing posts employees in China, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Senegal and Turkey, among other places.

The eligibility requirement includes a bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. In addition to this qualification, it is required to possess the ability to “work effectively with others to achieve common goals” as well as the ability to “provide service OR support to others under challenging conditions.”

It is also noted in the job description that bilingualism in French and English is preferred and that IRCC will provide language training to non-bilingual applicants if hired. As well as experience working abroad, proficiency in a third language, presentation skills, and experience using social media for professional purposes, the department lists “assets,” but not requirements.

Earlier, the Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, a work permit extension of up to 18 months has been made available to holders of Post-Graduate Work Permits (PGWP).

Post-graduation workers who have expired work permits may apply for an Open Work Permit extension as of April 6, 2023. For those whose PGWP expires in 2023, the extension will be available.

Also eligible are individuals whose PGWPs expired in 2022 and who submitted an application for an Open Work Permit extension with the IRCC last year.
