In addition to being the world’s happiest country for the sixth year in a row, based on the World Happiness Report 2023, Finland has also one of the most powerful passports.

While reaching a score of 7.59 in this year’s World Happiness Report, its passport has a score of 88.77 in the VisaGuide.World Passport Index’ which ranks the passports of a total of 199 countries taking into account their visa-free access to other destinations, among others, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Finland continues to hold the top spot following its commitment to sustainability, close connection with nature as well as employment of seasonal and local foods.

“Positive social connections and support last year were twice as prevalent as loneliness in seven key countries spanning six global regions, they were also strongly tied to overall ratings of how satisfied people are with their relationships with other people. The importance of these positive social relations helps further to explain the resilience of life evaluations during times of crisis,” the World Happiness Report reads.

As for the Passport Index of the VisaGuide, it shows that passports of the following countries are ranked in the top first six positions:

  • Japan
    • Singapore
    • Italy
    • Germany
    • Spain
    • Sweden

Ranked in the seventh position, giving its holders visa-free access to a total of 90 countries, and passport-free access to 54 countries, Finland’s passport is among the most famous ones in Nordic countries as well.
