The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has announced a four-day temporary shutdown of the passport service portal for technical maintenance. The downtime will begin at 6:30 PM on September 20 (Friday) and last until 4:30 AM on September 24 (Monday).
Impact on Services
During this period, all passport-related services—including emergency ‘Tatkaal’ passports and police clearance certificates—will be unavailable at the Embassy and all BLS International centers from September 20 to September 24.
The maintenance affected the availability of services such as:
- Renewal Requests
- Tatkaal (Urgent) Passport Services
- Police Clearance Certificates (PCC)
Appointment Rescheduling
Individuals with appointments scheduled for September 21 will be provided with revised appointment dates falling between September 23 and September 27.
For those who find the revised dates inconvenient, there’s a provision to submit passport applications as walk-ins at any BLS center after the revised appointment date. No separate appointment will be required for this purpose.
Other Services Continue
It’s important to note that other consular and visa services will remain operational at all BLS centers across the UAE on September 21.
Similar Maintenance in India (August 2024)
This is not the first time such maintenance has been carried out. Earlier, the Passport Seva portal in India underwent a similar temporary shutdown from August 29 to September 2, 2024, for technical upgrades.
During that period, passport services were also suspended across India, affecting both regular and emergency applications.
Inconvenience
The Indian Embassy acknowledges the inconvenience caused by these repeated maintenance shutdowns and assures passport applicants that they are working to minimize disruptions in the future.
Final Words
These periodic maintenance sessions aim to improve the efficiency and security of the passport processing system, ensuring smoother services in the future. Stay updated for any further announcements and plan your passport-related services accordingly!
