Education System

Study levels in New Zealand
- Early childhood: up to five years
- Primary school: 5 to 10 years
- Intermediate school: 11 to 12 years
- Secondary school: 13 to 18 years
- Tertiary education: 18 years and above
New Zealand has eight state-subsidized colleges, 16 Organizations of Innovation and Polytechnics (ITPs) which have been bound together into the New Zealand Foundation of Abilities and Innovation (NZIST), and around 550 Private Preparing Foundations (PTEs), which incorporate English language schools.
Pick the type of organization that is best for your career:
- Colleges offer more significant level schooling. Projects are research-driven and for the most part scholarly as opposed to professional. In the 2020 QS World College Rankings, seven of New Zealand’s colleges were in the main 100 in at any rate one subject.
- ITPs and a couple of bigger PTEs offer professional degree-level schooling.
- PTEs will in general offer explicit professional projects, mostly at certificate and diploma level.
- Private Training programs
There are two intakes offered by New Zealand under its higher education programs – July and February. While pathway programs may have additional dates available, admissions for vocational courses may also be available in March, April and May. It would be advisable to always check for available intakes in your course of preference.
