Studying abroad is a transformative experience that opens students’ eyes to a wide range of global options and increases the possibilities for their future careers. They get a larger perspective on the world, adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and problem-solving abilities that are essential for success in today’s fiercely competitive world.
Over the past few years, there has been a significant shift in the educational preferences of prospective students. Also, they have developed a sharp eye for detail and do the considerable study before choosing a programme, university, or country.
Let’s check the list of some of the popular study destinations shared by Amrita Ghulati, Director-Academics, IC3 Institute, where Indian students are particularly interested.
1. USA
The United States is home to ground-breaking innovations, the nation of Ivy League colleges. People from many diverse cultural origins and religious beliefs study and work here, making it a country of opportunity. Through universities and colleges, students are given a wide range of experiences and introduced to a world of networking opportunities.
In 2022, the United States issued more study visas, the majority of which went to Indian students. Recent updates indicate that for the fiscal year 2023, the US has granted approximately 1.25 lakh student visas to Indians.
Students from all over the world, especially Indian students looking to continue higher education, find the US to be an appealing option because of the popularity of STEM courses, the simplicity of the application process, and exposure.
2. UNITED KINGDOM
Universities in the UK have the highest academic requirements. According to the QS World Ranking 2023, four of the top ten universities in the world are located in the UK. The nation permits foreign students to remain and work there for two years (3 years for those with PhD or doctoral qualifications).
The UK is also favoured because of its better educational system, skill set, and employment potential. Thus, students look for post-study employment options to lengthen their stay in the UK.
“The United Kingdom is becoming more and more popular with Indian students due to the favourable stay-back alternatives, post-work stay-back opportunities, and evolving residency rules. E.g., the British government’s introduction of the Graduate Pathway visa in 2019 resulted in a substantial increase in the number of Indian students enrolling in U.K. universities,” said Amrita Ghulati.
3. CANADA
The previous 8-9 years have seen a gradual but steady rise in Canada’s reputation as a top location for higher education. Indian students currently consider it to be one of the top destinations for higher education.
A top-notch education combined with internship opportunities and lenient government immigration and post-study work legislation is the ideal combination for Indian students.
