Ontario and British Columbia have recently invited candidates through their respective provincial immigration programs. Canada’s provinces and territories utilize the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to select skilled economic immigration candidates to address labor market challenges and demographic needs.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) regularly searches Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Express Entry pool to find candidates who may meet the criteria of one of Ontario’s Express Entry immigration streams.
If OINP identifies you in the pool, you will receive a notification of interest in your Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada online account.
After you receive a notification of interest, you may submit an online application to the OINP if you qualify under the Ontario Express Entry stream for which your notification of interest was issued. You must submit your application within 45 calendar days of receiving the notification of interest.
However, receiving a notification of interest does not mean that you qualify for one of the streams. If you have received a notification of interest, follow the instructions for applying to the OINP through the Express Entry system and ensure you meet the requirements for both the stream and the draw you were invited under.

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program
The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is an economic immigration program. It lets the Province select economic immigrants who will live in B.C. and help fill job vacancies or operate businesses. If you are nominated, you and your family can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence in Canada.
The BC PNP has two main components
- Skills Immigration is for workers and recent graduates with the skills, experience and qualifications needed by B.C. employers.
- Entrepreneur Immigration is for experienced entrepreneurs who intend to create and actively manage a business in the province.
Targeted invitations to apply to the Skills Immigration streams may be based on one or more of the following factors:
- Education – level and field of education and where it was completed
- Eligible professional designations in B.C.
- Language skills
- Occupation
- Duration and skill level of work experience
- Wage and/or skill level of job offer
- Intent to live, work and settle in a specific region
- Strategic priorities – factors that address specific labour market needs in B.C. or support government pilot projects and initiatives
