Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued Invitations to Apply (ITA) in a fresh Express Entry round of invitations. In this all-program draw, the department has extended invitations to 3,000 applicants.
To receive an ITA, candidates needed to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 504.
This draw follows several previous rounds that occurred during the week of September 18. On September 19, IRCC invited 3,200 applicants in an all-program draw, and on September 20, they conducted the first-ever category-based lottery for Express Entry candidates in the transportation industry, inviting 1,000 applicants.

What is category-based selection?
In May of this year, the IRCC revealed its intention to conduct certain Express Entry draws by emphasizing a single characteristic of candidates instead of solely relying on their comprehensive CRS scores. This shift toward implementing categories was anticipated to occur within the same year, thanks to a modification made to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) in 2022. This change granted the immigration minister the power to choose Express Entry candidates who are deemed likely to contribute to Canada’s goal of bolstering its economy and advancing the French language beyond Quebec.
To that end, six new categories were created for in-demand occupations and newcomers with strong French-language abilities. The five occupation-based categories are:
• Healthcare;
• STEM professions;
• Trades;
• Transport; and
• Agriculture and agri-food
