Is Your CRS Score High Enough? Canada Invites Skilled Workers for Permanent Residency

Canada Invitations to Apply

Canada’s immigration system continues to offer promising opportunities for skilled workers through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). On May 31, the IRCC sent invitations to 3,000 fortunate candidates to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency under the Express Entry draw specifically targeting the CEC category. This draw marks another significant milestone in Canada’s ongoing efforts to attract and retain skilled talent.

What is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)?

The CEC is a fast-track pathway for skilled workers who have gained valuable work experience in Canada while holding temporary resident status. This program is designed to attract and retain talent who have already demonstrated their ability to contribute to the Canadian economy.

Key Details of the Latest Express Entry Draw

The latest round of invitations commenced on May 31, 2024, and concluded on June 1, 2024. The draw took place at 12:48:30 UTC, setting the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off at 522. Candidates who met or exceeded this score and submitted their profiles before March 19, 2024, at 18:58:58 UTC received an ITA.

The CRS is a points-based system that considers factors like work experience, education, language skills, and age. A lower CRS score typically indicates a stronger candidacy.

Eligibility Criteria for the CEC

The CEC is tailored for skilled workers with Canadian work experience who aspire to become permanent residents. To qualify, candidates must meet specific criteria:

1. Work Experience: A minimum of one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years. This experience must have been gained while the candidate was authorized to work under temporary resident status.

2. Paid Work: The work experience must be in paid positions, either through wages or earned commissions. Volunteer work or unpaid internships do not count.

3. Legal Authorization: Candidates must have worked legally in Canada. Those who worked without authorization or temporary resident status are not eligible
