The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful stretch of Italian coastline peppered with colourful houses and dazzling sea views. The region is one which has become increasingly popular on social media in recent years and has seen celebrities flocking to the region for their own luxurious holidays.
However, according to new research by Which?, the destination could offer a “cheaper” holiday than Turkey, which is usually considered to be an affordable hotspot.
In their report, the expert team from Which? said: “Those booking now will also find some of the cheapest package prices on Spain’s Costa Brava and Italy’s Amalfi Coast – usually considered to be expensive.
“All are currently cheaper, on average, than traditionally good value destinations such as Bulgaria and Turkey.”
Though the experts note that “the Amalfi Coast is not a destination associated with a bargain holiday”, if you’re booking a holiday right now, the diverse range of accommodation in region means that you could have a better chance of securing a bargain stay.
“The reason it is one of the cheapest places for a package holiday is primarily because of the range of accommodation available; the Amalfi Coast has plenty of room-only, self-catering and bed and breakfast accommodation (rather than pricier all-inclusive or full board packages) still available, which means prices are lower on average,” noted the research. “There are also lots of budget flights to the region.””The reason it is one of the cheapest places for a package holiday is primarily because of the range of

The Amalfi coast is home to 13 cities and towns along the UNESCO-listed coastline, with Positano considered to be one of the most expensive places to stay.
However, if you are after something with more of a local feel, experts from Positano.com recommend opting for opt for Praiano, Ravello, or one of the smaller villages like Conca dei Marini.
Sorrento is a convenient jumping-off point for those who want to explore the wider area. While there are a number of high-end stays, the variety of accommodations in Sorrento means you can search for a budget stay.
The town is also notably cheaper than staying in Positano, but close enough that you can enjoy a day trip.
The Amalfi Coast is known for its incredible vistas, with a winding highway skirting dramatic cliffs dotted with rustic villages and luxurious villas.
For those who like to soak up nature, it’s a great destination for hiking with plenty of footpaths right up into the hills.
Or, head down to the waterfront to discover secluded coves and tiny jetties.
Travellers flying to the Amalfi Coast can either fly into Rome or Naples and then drive or take public transport.
