Remote work lovers are now eligible to head to Türkiye to live and work from there for companies or clients located outside the country after Türkiye has officially introduced the Digital Nomad Visa Program.
The new decision comes in an effort to attract foreigners and thus help the country’s further economic growth, VisaGuide.World reports.
The new changes have been confirmed through a statement published by the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry.
In addition, the Ministry introduced a website where interested persons can find the requirements needed to benefit from this program.
Unfolding new details for this kind of visa, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry’s website GoTürkiye also says that the country offers “the best options” for digital nomads.
Who Qualifies for This Program?
Citizens of the following countries aged 21-55 are eligible to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa if they meet the needed requirements.
- European Union
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Canada
- Ukraine
- Russia
- Belarus
Among the requirements, applicants must have at least an annual income of $36,000 and a university degree in order to be eligible to apply for this visa.
Back in 2022, Istanbul was included in Time Out’s list of top 50 cities in the world, stressing that it had bounced back to post-COVID.
The Time Out magazine emphasized how lively the city’s culture is, with a total of 97 percent of locals saying it’s never boring. In addition, a total of 82 per cent praised the city’s food and drinks.
In 2023, Türkiye received a total of 49.2 million international tourists, up 10.4 per cent from 44.6 million internationals who reached the country in 2022, according to the figures provided by the Culture and Tourism Industry.
Besides, last year, tourism income also increased by 17 per cent year-over-year to an all-time high of $54.32 billion, based on the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
